The Premier Disc Golf Tour in Texas
In 2026 Armory Disc Golf will be bringing you the fourth season of the premier disc golf tour in Texas - Throwing Down the Gauntlet, sponsored by MVP Disc Sports. This year-long season will have tournaments from flex starts to 2 day B Tiers across the state in which you will earn points (and fat stacks of payout) based on your performance. At the end of the season, the top point earners (alongside Gold/Platinum Tier winners) will earn a place in the Invitational Championship, where you'll compete for over $10,000 added in cash + prizes!
Last year we had nearly 2000 players join us in these events for over four thousand rounds total, culminating in a championship where we handed out over $10,000 in added cash and prizes. We look forward to making 2026 even better and to continue presenting the absolute best tournament experience possible. As part of our commitment to do so, we have re-upped our agreement with MVP Disc Sports as the title sponsor for TDTG 2026! We're excited to offer the best discs in the game as part of the best tournament series in the game.
This year we are also collaborating with MVP to make a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital! MVP is providing a huge yearlong raffle prize that you can register for at each individual event, with proceeds going directly towards St. Jude. In addition, we will be contributing a portion of tournament proceeds towards this same end and will present the check to them towards the end of the year. Last year we were able to raise over $3,000 and we're proud to be a part of a community that gives beyond the game.
2026 is going to be the best TDTG season yet and we're excited to play some disc golf with you 😎

If this event were a Gold Tier, you would earn 45 points, in a Platinum Tier you would earn 60 points.
Example 2: If you play a Silver Tier event in a division with 7 players and place 1st, you will earn 5 points for playing, 12 points for your placement, and 5 points for winning your division, for a total of 22 points (Gold Tier would be 66 points, Platinum Tier would be 88 points).

Throwing Down the Gauntlet has 4 tournament "tiers". These will be weighted differently for season points standings and Championship bids, but they will each also function independently as standalone tournaments - i.e., eligible players will receive payouts and trophies after each event in addition to the points they earn towards season standings.
These are flex start events that will be hosted several times in each region throughout the season. They are a great way to get rated rounds in while stacking up points towards a regular season championship and an Invitational bid. Your top 7 Silver Tier finishes of the season will count towards your point total, so shake off those bad rounds and work your way to the top! In addition, if you win a division with 5+ players competing that day in 3 different Silver Tier events, you'll get an automatic invite to the Championship 👑
These are single round shotgun start tournaments with a small player pack and payout available on site at the conclusion of the event. As the name implies, they will fall between Silver and Gold Tiers in terms of points awarded but also in cost. We will host a few of these events in 2026 and take your TOP 2 Silver+ events (as a part of the 7 overall Silver events). Silver+ events will have a 2x point multiplier for season points standings.
These are 2 round, 1 day shotgun start events that will be held 2-4 times in each of several different regions in 2026. You will receive a custom player pack from MVP Disc Sports as well as be eligible for several CTPs and mini game prizes as a part of your entry into these events, which we are confident are at the highest tier of tournament value you'll find. In 2026 we count your TOP 3 Gold Tier event finishes towards your season points standings, so if you show up with less than your best at one of them you can replace it later in the season with a better performance. In addition, if you win a Gold Tier event with 5+ players in your division you will earn an automatic invite to the 2026 TDTG Invitational Championship. Gold Tier events will have a 3x point multiplier for season points standings.
These are 2-3 round, 1-2 day shotgun start B Tier events with at least $750 added prizes thrown into the prize pool. You will receive a custom player pack from MVP Disc Sports as well as be eligible for several CTPs and mini game prizes as a part of your entry into these events, which we are confident are at the highest tier of tournament value you'll find. Similar to Gold Tiers, if you win a Platinum Tier event with 5+ players in your division you will earn an automatic invite to the 2026 TDTG Invitational Championship. Platinum Tier events will have a 4x point multiplier for season standings and your TOP 2 Platinum Tier finishes will count towards season standings.
For each participant in each tournament across the state and throughout the year, we will set aside cash to distribute towards cash and prize payout at the 2026 Championship. The result is one of the largest prize pools for a single amateur event in the country - we had over $12,000 added cash and prizes at the Championship in 2025. This year the Invitational will be an invite-only PDGA A Tier, a fitting designation for the triumphant climax of the season.
